I am a graduate candidate at the University of Southern Denmark’s Center for American Studies. My main academic interests are American intellectual history, populist and progressive movement histories, socio-political theory, postmodern culture and visual semiotics, especially within the public/political theater. My special passion is the relationship between technology, civil society and democracy. As a future Americanist, I envision a multi-disciplinary research agenda which examines the American cyber landscape through the lens of history, sociology, philosophy, semiotic theory and literary studies. My master’s thesis examines the intellectual traditions of former Vice President Al Gore, Jr and compares representations of Gore through various media over time. My long-term plans include pursuing doctoral research, university teaching, perhaps a government or think tank assignment, and a secret passion for journalism. I regularly blog at america adrift, an American Studies community blog.
