Franziska Schmidt

Franziska deepened her interest in American culture, politics, and history during her time living in New Jersey, which eventually set her on the path to studying American Studies. Before entering academia, she completed vocational training and worked for almost a decade as an administrative assistant at TU Dresden. In 2022, she enrolled in Leipzig University's B.A. in American Studies, graduating in 2025 before immediately advancing to the M.A. program. Her academic interests include television studies, monster studies, freak show studies, and true crime in television. When not studying, Franziska enjoys watching trashy B-movies. Passionate about television in the 90s, she is an avid fan of MST3K, Rifftrax, The Simpsons, The X-Files, and The Sopranos.
