Emilia Bartoschik

Emilia Bartoschik is currently enrolled as an American Studies MA student at the Universität Leipzig. 

In 2017/18, she spent a High School Exchange Year in Rainbow City, (Sweet Home) Alabama and it is safe to say that her fate to study American Studies was sealed, although she didn't know it at the time. 

After receiving her BA in North American Studies from the John F. Kennedy Institute at the Freie Universität Berlin in 2025, an exchange year at University College Dublin in 2022/23, and multiple interships at farms, as an assistant director, and the cemetery, she decided to move Leipzig to pursue her Master's Degree in American Studies. 

Her BA thesis centered the YouTube presence of the Christian Intentional Community Bruderhof and its glamorization of traditional gender roles. With a nack for feminist and eco-socialist ideals, as well as a deep interest in social justice, specific research interest are the politics of education, cosumerism (in a capitalist system), and cultural politics of visual media. 

When she is not studying, you can witness her complaining about not having enough time to read all the books in the world or trying out yet another side quest hobby like juggling.
