Katharina Austilat

After having received my Bachelor’s degree in cultural sciences and American studies at Leipzig University, I directly continued with the MA in American studies. My research interests lay within memory studies and its intersections with other fields of American studies, such as literary studies, social history, and border studies. Throughout my working and volunteering experiences so far, I was able to delve into institutionalized forms of remembrance as well as to particpate in the discourse around inclusive and participatory places and spaces of memory. The combination of scholarly research and participating in practices of memory has proven fruitful so far and is a path I plan to further explore.
