Pia Benthin

Pia Benthin is a master’s student at American Studies Leipzig at the University of Leipzig, Germany. During her BA program, Pia studied British Studies as a major and American studies as a minor. While she took courses on literary and cultural studies, as well as linguistics, translation, and politics in her undergrad program, Pia wants to focus more on cultural studies and politics during her MA studies. Her research interests are span from pop culture, to US history, and Gender Studies. During the review process of aspeers Fat Studies as well as Queer Studies also caught Pia’s interest.

Off-campus, Pia works as a journalist and aspires to combine her passion for journalism and American studies in her future career. Co-editing aspeers was a first great step into that direction and Pia enjoyed working with her cohort and learning more about publishing in academia.
