Jake William Gordon

After graduating from Western Oregon University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s in Social Studies Education, Jake served as a middle school teacher for three years. He is a Center for Geography Education in Oregon Teacher Consultant and was a selected participant for the 2014 American Civil War and 2015 Megalopolis summer institutes. Both of these two-week long study tours provided him the materials, skills, and first-hand-knowledge to bring East Coast geography instruction to Oregon’s K-12 students. Jake initially became aware of the American Studies MA program in Leipzig during his participation in the Goethe Institutes’ 2015 Transatlantic Outreach Program Germany Study Tour for American educators. He believes that exploring American history, politics, economics, literature, and other aspects of US culture while living in Germany will provide him with a unique perspective that advances both his professional and personal goals.
