Maša obtained a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. During this time, she spent two semesters at Leipzig University, where she also got to know the American Studies program. After a year of doing internships at the Slovenian National Assembly Research Department and the Slovenian Embassy in Berlin, Maša decided to continue her education with the MA program in American Studies in Leipzig for which she is funded by the Ad futura scholarship from the Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia.

The intersection of politics and culture in the program gave her a multitude of perspectives on ‘America in the world’ and enabled to consider new points of research that complemented her interest in foreign policy analysis. Her main academic research interests therefore lie in US foreign policy and relations with non-state actors, especially social movements, the US-EU relations and consequently the transatlantic policy community in matters of securty.
