I received my bachelor’s degree in American studies in the summer of 2013 and, after spending one year in the British Studies department, was accepted to the American studies master’s program at Leipzig University in 2014. Even before writing my BA thesis about the fictional anticipation of Gender Identity Disorder in The Silence of the Lambs, I became highly interested in the representation of medicine, science, and jurisdiction in contemporary American literature. This also ties in with my other research focus, which revolves around crime fiction and gender studies in popular culture. Besides reading crime novels and medical thrillers by my favorite author Tess Gerritsen and participating in the Student Council for British and American studies, I am working on planning trips to the US in order to reach my goal of visiting each state at least once in my life.
