Charcoal drawing, 21 x 29.7 cm, 2018

Artist’s note: The piece encapsulates the contemporary American moment. It combines and contextualizes historical progress with the present, drawing attention to the genesis and symptoms of “American Anger.” Immigrants who are depicted on the right side are dealt with from an ‘othering’ perspective. The general setting features tropes of American cultural folklore, such as the frontier/Manifest Destiny, industrial capitalist critique, and American national identity. It seeks to encourage an avenue for discussion on the perils and possibilities of anger.
